Flying Saucer in Houston

Is it kid friendly during the day?
I have a pretty good chef's knife from them.
I've had it, too. Love it and gave it as gifts this past Christmas. No complaints, but none of my coworkers ever complain about my alcohol-gifts.

Face it- if you're using the Advocate food reviews for anything more than entertainment- something is quite wrong. All the info anyone would ever want on places to eat can be found right here ...
Completely agree with you about Red Stick Spice Co. The people there seem helpful, but it's almost like they don't realize what their target customers are.

I attended one at red Stick Spice Copmany. There was a couple or two there, but I have to admit, I was underwhelmed by the class. And I would probably not be as high on the "foodie" scale as most of the posters here.

what about those "gift baskets" with the teeny tiny summer sausage or other unidentifiable "meat item", 4 crackers, and a couple of petit fours? And usually 1 hard candy wrappe dup like a strawberry. The horrors. :yack:

Try flavoring water or club soda with lemons or any other fruit you like. Cucumbers may work, too. The commercially favored waters always seem to have a weird taste to me. Best of luck to you.

Love River Road- the medium dark blend (Acadiana?) and Peets (sp?) is a favorite, too.

Agree. Had it once and did not like it. Very greasy.
re: Fresh Turkey in BR ?

I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) the nonfrozen will be "fresh." I need to read the packaging to confirm. But to answer your question, I have been led to believe these might taste better. If I am making false assumptions, let me know.
I guess a second question would be - which is better to brine ... the standard frozen turkey or nonfrozen?
Besides, it will give everyone something to talk about ...

Wow, my family has this issue ... me and Mr. Mulva can cook, but when we go to my in-laws, break out the canned sweet potatoes and the awful green beans from a can with that crunchy onion stuff on it. And I don't know what's going on with their macaroni. It's a shame because I love the in-laws, they just can't cook. At least there's lots of alcohol.

yes, nonfrozen was what I was thinking. Live might be a little too fresh. Although I'm sure that would be a Thanksgiving to remember. Thanks.
Fresh Turkey in BR ?

Anyone know if there's a place in BR that sells these or will take orders? Or is this something that can be found at a regular grocery store? Looking to step things up a notch for the feast next week. TIA
It is kid-friendly. Took my 6 yr. old son this past spring. We both enjoyed it.
Cooking disasters aside, what's your favorite drink ...

to consume while cooking your favorite meal? Do you always drink the same thing while you cook anything or just certain dishes?

not personally, but Mr. Mulva (been waiting months to use that) said one in Tuscaloosa is very good.

Anyone out there ever tried this? What did you think? Need to find some for a Christmas gift. TIA
