Great Cause without a doubt! But as far as BBQ competitions it's really lower tier IMO.

I've never gotten the impression that the participants view it as a "serious BBQ competition." And that's not to knock it at all.

It's definitely more of a festival then a comp

were you a judge in the past? I assumed what was given to the judges is different than what is offered to the masses.
the breadth of variety at Hogs is outstanding IMO and very enjoyable. Can't wait to snag a hupig pie.

Correct. My assumption is that "serious" barbecue competitions are much more structured than this set up.
I don't think that's ever been what they are going for here or what anyone really wants it to be.

My opinion stands, Me feeling it is very lacking as far as a competition doesn't in anyway detract from all the good that comes out of this weekend and the lives that will benefit from the monies raised. I know you think the food aspect is the best thing since Hupig Pie

I did not say it's the "best" thing but the only time I can get one is at hogs (as far as I know.)
Best thing I ate last year was some wagyu brisket.

Isn't it sanctioned by the Memphis Barbecue Network? They turn in different food on the backend than what they're serving to the public.

I'm at the point I can't pay $60 a ticket, then another $50-$70 for food. I love that it's for a good cause, so I donated $40. But the price continually gets crazier. I promise it'll be $100 within 5 years. I hate when these popular fests get get greedy. Especially if you're NotForProfit

You forgot $10 to park. The higher ticket price is for the “music festival” element I believe.

Rugaroux Q partial menu:
Pulled pork pimento grilled cheese (Fri & Sat)
Bacon & wings (Friday)
Vacresson sausage Heat-n-Sweet stuffed donuts (Saturday) - only have 400 so get them early
Ice cream sammiches for the kiddos
...and more
Parking is free this year.
As for the weather, Wednesday storms were a setback. We were one of a few teams that had a tent go down, but had it back in place with a lot of effort and a little fabrication (thanks to Bayou Metal Supply in Slidell and some Cajun ingenuity). We had three poles that looked like this on a 20X40 tent-
