What are some of the healthy dining options that are easy to find when traveling? I currently find myself in strip mall hell, with nothing but chains as far as the eye can see (and not in Louisiana). I'm looking for something reasonably priced and healthy for me.

Any suggestions?

when in doubt I generally end up at Subway, even though it's Subway. Easy to eat healthy there

get on Yelp, use the Nearby feature, find what's local or higher rated or search for "fresh" or "healthy"

Zoes if possible. I hate Subway because the carbs kill you. Your best bet is to find anyone with a chicken salad.

Grilled chicken salads from Wendy's are money and quick and easy when you are on the go. I also get the grilled chicken wrap from Sonic minus the ranch.

the grocery store. Places like Publix/HarrisTeeter/etc have salad bars, grilled or rotisserie chicken, cold cuts, fresh fruit and veggies, soups, etc.

Subway is a healthy myth.

Sure you can lose weight, but the sodium content in the food is through the roof!!!! For those like myself who battle high blood pressure, Subway is worse than some fast food chains

Chili's has a few options that aren't bad. The Margarita Grilled Chicken is what I usually get when I go there on the road.

Eat Chinese. Even if it's a buffet, just don't go back for a second plate. It's not a contest between you and the owner. Fast, cheap, healthy.

Sodium is used as a preservative even in veggies. Maybe not to the extend of other items on their menu but as a whole subway is loaded with it. Same thing goes for those Smart One/lean dinners...low in fat...high in sodium.

For someone like me there's not a huge difference between eating a burger from a fast food chain or a samich from subway. Both are high in Sodium.

I'm not blowing smoke, subway really is loaded with sodium.

Cutting out Fat and cholestrol is always the most popular thing discussed. But Hypertension is really the biggest silent killer in this Country. We see low fat items,,,,,and we say yes! but never think twice about the amount of sodium we digest.

Stir fried broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, mushrooms and chicken over steamed rice does not equal fried chicken from Col. Sanders.
You have to know what you're getting.

Sodium does not cause blood pressure problems, it just makes them worse when you do get them.
