Yep. For BBQ local I still like Big Jakes. I run by there every so often when I can for lunch.

I got the 3 meat with pork, brisket and chicken. Chicken was great, pork was good and brisket was very good. Mac n Cheese needs some seasoning but still good. Potato Salad was good as well. My son got the fried chicken and that was the real deal. I look forward to trying that myself. The sauces were good but half of them won't squeeze through the tiny opening on the bottle so I didn't get to try many.

But it was very expensive. Very. $40 for two platters and a kids meal. My portions were large enough so I don't have a complaint there but it's $16 for a three meat combo without a drink.

just had the brisket quesadillas and loaded potato salad. Potato salad was awesome but everyone likes theirs different. This one was smooth almost like mashed potatoes.

The brisket quesadilla was ok. Pull the brisket off and it was awesome. Makes for an ok Quesadilla.

Wife wasn't hungry so I decided to try this tonight. Left right after the start of the second quarter of the LSU game to bring it back to the house.

Went inside to order and got a pulled pork platter with smoked Gouda Mac and pulled pork and beans. The Mac was pretty plain and dry. Would have liked it to be creamier and some smoked flavor. Pork and beans were good though. Pulled pork portion was a good size and had a good mix of bark. Flavor on it's own was ok. I got one sweet and one spicy sauce and put it on opposite sides of the pulled pork. Honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two but the sauce was good. The pork had a pool of grease that I've never seen before. It could have been from the garlic bread, which was really greasy and put with the pork. I wouldn't mind trying some of the other meats, fried chicken, and sides.

My biggest issue was the amount of time it took to get my food. Based on the time on my receipt, it was a little over 25 minutes, and they weren't too busy. Maybe it's a false sense of expectations since they have a drive through and it's counter service. I was expecting to order and have my food in 10-15 minutes to get back to the house.

got fried chicken today. it tasted "ok" nothing really to rave about.it did have that thick buttermilk crust but most of it fell off.got it to go and they put in in a paper bag inside of a plastic bag the chicken was so greasy it fell through the paper bag. oh and be prepared to wait or call ahead. they cook chicken to order.so it's a "20" minute wait .which actually turned into 35 today. super greasy okay tasting chicken. i may give the bbq stuff a try. but, i'll just stick with popeye's for chicken.

also, the place was hot as hell. it was actually cooler outside.

Went tonite w wife and youngest kido. We ordered:

Smoked Gouda Mac Bites ($7)
(The inside binder was almost like a crabcake... breadcrumbish. Son ate 1/2 one and I ate 1. Wont order again)

Wife had Smoked Wing Platter ($8) w Coleslaw & Pork n Beans. She wanted fried chicken, didnt want to wait 25 minutes... ordered 1/4 Smoked Chicken & they were out. Settled w wings - Platter has 3.

Kids Burger w Curley Q's ($6)

I got Rib Platter ($14) w Collard Greens & Pork n Beans w a drink ($2)

Total was just over $42. Pretty high for amt of proteins you get, IMO.

Ribs were definately the best thing we had. Wont get the mac bites again. Wings were pretty good but the platter only has 3. Will go back to try the fried chicken when we have time. Ribs & Wings had good flavor tho. I tried all the sauces and kinda liked the mustard based carolina the best... vinegar based 2nd. Unfortunately all 4 were sweet. I do not like sweet bbq sauce. Couldnt they make just 1 w/o sugar?

Took us 25 min to get food at 7:00. Should have ordered the chicken. The filled a metric ton of to-go orders while we were there. Lots of folks called it in to go, got there to pick it up... sat down and ate it. Probably what im doin next time for chicken.

Those look small, would prefer bigger portions and less sides.

I find that most BBQ joints are a little light on the portion size to price ratio.

Picked up lunch there Friday thru the drive up. Took around 20 minutes to get my order.
I had the pulled pork peperjack egg rolls and a brisket/pulled pork patter with Gouda mac and corn pudding for my sides. The egg rolls were very good. A little greasy for my liking but the flavor was really good. The brisket and pulled pork both were good and had a good amount of bark. The gouda mac was dry and quite bland as others have stated but the corn pudding was dynamite.
Overall it was a good meal aside from the $24 bill for one but Ill go back again.

they are clearly still trying to work out the kinks. which is to be expected i guess. The people taking orders were not really familiar with the products or the process. The one that took my order had to turn and ask the lady in charge about each item.I saw the girl at the other register do the same thing a few times. But, I assume that will get better.
