If you dont want to patronize Parasols because they booted the old guys and kept the name and all, thats totally understandable, but don't just make shite up about their food. I've never heard anyone say the food went "way downhill."
That being said I'd still go to Guys. The hot sausage is good for non seafood, thr smoked sausage is not though. Gator sausage is floods when they have it, shrimp and the catfish are boss though.

Parasol's roast beef is still the same as it was. really good. Not sure about the other menu items.

Really, you're going to tell me what I've heard? Personally I don't know the story of the ownership situation nor do I care. I have no loyalty to parasols or Tracey's, I was just trying to help a poster out. But you can gfy.

I understand why some places are cash only. Credit card processing fees can add up quickly for a business.
I have a sneaking suspicion that is not why they only take cash.

Well for that and other reasons also.
Ok, I went and tried it out. Got a 11inch fried and shrimp catfish poboy. It was very good. I would have to say it is one of the better shrimp poboys I have eaten in the New Orleans area. My little shrimp poboy ranking would be:
1a)Castnet Seafood in NO east
1b)Guy's Poboys
2) Johnny's Poboys downtown-this one is also close to the two I have ranked above it, might even be able to be 1c
3) Parkway
4) R&O's
5) Crabby Jacks

Wow, pretty high praise. And I take your word on seafood items. No description?

The shrimp were nice sized (probably 36/40 sized peeled meat), batter was seasoned, and it was overstuffed. The only knock against them is that they didn't even do oyster poboys. One of the people I was with was craving an oyster poboy and they said they don't do oyster poboys.
They also didn't toast and butter the bread. It's something I did at my place the last 3-4 months I was open and it's something I thought made a noticable difference. Not many places butter and toast their bread that I know about though. It is time consuming and slows down the kitchen a little.
Overall I thought the shrimp and catfish poboy was very good.

Parasols is great! Roast beef and the warm muffulettas. Fries with brown gravy too!
