Has anyone ever been? I hate going downtown for anything. My wife says she heard from a friend that I would like it. Looking for some advice on whether I should go or not. Thanks in advance

I’d actually rather shoot potato guns than Ho downtown, but my wife thinks I’d enjoy this place.

I’m sure it’s cool. Wish I had the blow gun I bought at one as a kid…I could frick up some beer cans with that thing.

WTF are we talking about here? An actual gun show? A restaurant called “Gun Show?” A bunch of dudes showing off their biceps?

I follow the chef/owner Kevin Gillespie on Instagram. He seems like a good guy and even once had a guest appearance on Archer.

That all I got

Yes it’s apparently a restaurant with some kind of twist. Lots of different meals that you can either accept or decline at the table.

Haven’t been but I know it’s always talked about as one of the best restaurants in the city.

One of my former students works there and invited me out. They describe the concept as Southern dim sum.

Southern because the menu draws inspiration from traditional Southern recipes, cuisine, and ingredients but with modern techniques and nouveau styling.

And dim sum describes how each dish and walked around the dining room as the cook who prepared it describes it to patrons who either accept or reject it.

When I went they just sent me one of everything (9 dishes) and one of every dessert (3 total). The food is creative and well prepared and it's a cool dining experience but, not somewhere I would eat regularly.

Kevin was not there the night I dined.

Inventive food, great cocktails. I enjoyed it. It’s been a few years, but the area around it (Grant Park) was nice.

If you have the chance to go, you should go. It's been pretty incredible the 2 times I have been. Pretty cool concept, and they usually have some guest chef. You have to make reservations about a month in advanced or take your chances someone doesn't show up on a given day.

Kevin named it Gun How because his father always took him to gun shows when he was growing up.

The pictures of the food look pretty good, but what a terrible name for a restaurant.
