Grilling a whole gator at the Florida game and need some tips/recipes.

I know a sauce piquante or fried is the best way to do it but a buddy wants to do it whole for "presentation".

I'd appreciate any help.

ain't nothing wrong with grilling it then breaking it down and cooking it until tender in a sauce piquant.

OK, just for clarity, are you grilling a gator left whole or a whole gator cut up in manageable pieces. There's a big difference in cooking either way.

If doing a entirely whole gator, I would think it would come out dry in the end, especially the parts where the meat is sparse as opposed to the jowls and tail where the meat is thick.

Now, if parting out a whole gator, you can cook the meat in stages starting with the thickest cuts on the grill first and adding less meatier parts as you go along.

Rotisserie that thing. Maybe you’ll get featured on the game broadcast when they go through tailgates

Whole thing. Leaving the feet and head on for aesthetic purposes.

I went on a dove hunt a couple of years ago where a whole gator was cooked just like this (with feet and head on). The meat I ate was good, but I can't say whether there were portions that were dried out that I didn't eat. Sorry I don't have the process he used, but it is possible to do it

Cook normal gator things for eating, grill one for photos, knowing it isn't going to taste great

saw this years ago at the LSV/FL game. You will get lots of attention.

please get the gator from the Lake Mechant area so that I will have one less of those nasty bastards to deal with when fishing.

This is the one and only reason they would attempt to cook a gator whole.
