I have an older Genesis SE 330 that I bought from Ace Hardware in 2016 on huge markdown. It was the last of the “Old Three Front Burner Genesis” made 2007-2016. It is still going strong after 10 years in service. Only problem is one igniter has a weak spark.
The SE Edition was Enamel Porcelain exterior and has heavy duty stainless steel flavorizer bars, heavy stainless steel grill grates, and stainless steel “heat defelctors” . As stated , the only issue I have had with this grill on 0ne of 5 burner igniters (3 main burners, 1 sear burner, and one side burner), which is easily solved with a stick lighter.
I have kept the grill covered on a screened in patio for 95% of it’s life. I also line the grease management system with foil, including the sloped pan and two rectangular catch pans (one fits within the other). And I monitor the grease catch probably more than most.
I was gifted a rotisserie years ago and use it extensively for poultry as well as large beef, pork, and lamb roasts. I use the side burner to blacken catfish and seafood in a cast iron pan quite often. Most claim you cannot get good smoke from a gas grill, but careful placement of your smoker boxes will get enough on your food. I would not recommend trying to smoke beef, pork, or lamb on a gas grill unless you have a rotisserie.
They are great tools once you learn how to use them. A gas grill will never take place of my Weber kettles, and most recently my Colombian barrel cooker, but they make great food if you learn how to use them (especially the Genesis- they get insanely hot compared to most gassers). Also, more convenient than a pellet pooper, IMO.
