I live in BTR, I went to Red Maple for lunch and it was DISGUSTING.

Crab pasta is like processed cheese with pasta and then some cheap imitation crab meat sprinkled on top. The bartenders look like they should work on bourbon, which i applaud, but gross is an understatement.'

A new mexican restaurant just opened on Gretna Blvd, right next to The Rugby Pub. I haven't tried it yet, but my friends say it was good. "El Mesquite"

Tony Mandina's is solid, right near Stumpf and the expressway.

Cafe Roma-near Lapalco and Wall

The Point is also pretty solid. Corner of Peters Road and 4th Street in Harvey.

Gattuso's (Great RB po poys, other stuff not so good)
Red Maple (good for after work drinks and specials...quarter raw and 50 cent char-grilled oysters on Thursday nights. AYCE king crab on Monday nights)
Common Grounds
Kingfish Grille (sandwiches - the cubano is really good)

All solid choices. I would throw DiMartino's (Carol Sue and Wright) into the mix. Good roast beef and muffaletta. The chicken salad and shrimp potato salad are good also good.
If you like medeterranean, Cleopatra on Manhattan is damn good. Best gyro I've had in a while.

Can't believe I forgot DiMartino's...especially since I work across the street and eat there at least once week.

They also have coupons on Restaurant.com.

Used to like DiMartino's before Katrina, but they got really chinchy after that.

They made the roast beef smaller and raised the price in small increments like 5 times!

Plus, they never, ever, ever put enough fixins on their sandwiches.

I too have found that their prices have gone up. I like their food a lot...but they are too expensive. But it's conveniet since I can just walk across the street.

Last week, the hubby was BBQing, so I stopped in there to get a container of the shrimp potato salad to go with it....$8!!!!! Ridiculous.

The oyster po-boy is like $13, and that's definitely not worth it!

They also seem to never serve food that's hot - it's warm if you're lucky.

Cafe Zen on Belle Chasse Hwy is my favorite sushi restaurant. I would eat the Hana Special Roll as my final meal

Love it. Not as much as Sake Garden on the NS...but it's definitely solid.

Moe's pizza in Westwego is always good.
Cafe DiBlasi is my go to for Italian.
Fuji Hana (sp) is a solid sushi place on Belle Chasse HWY.
Parkside Cafe in Terrytown has a great roast beef po-boy and cheese fries.
New Orleans Food and Spirits is really good also.

Wow. I really disagree here. I just have not had a very good meal at this place. I would much rather Tennou or Fuji Hana for good westbank sushi. I love good sushi, Cafe Zen just does not do it for me. Maybe I need to try it again. Its been a while.
