It's been way too long since I have been to Ruffinos. But I'm glad i made a trip back and I won't wait that long again. I had the ribeye topped wit hcrabmeat imperial and it was one of the best steaks I have had in a while. It was cooked perfectly. The serivce was great as always. I won't wait as long next time

just a question (F&D is a safe place) why would you order a steak? I'm glad to hear Ruffino's was good. I have eaten there since it was Dinardo's, thought it was the best Italian in BR, then took a break. The last time I ate there thought it was average at best.

really? I think I can grill a better steak at home. When I eat out I try to order something I can't cook.

Is this a long list?

Sometimes I want a good steak, they do a good job.

The wife likes the chicken, she get that most trips.

Today I ate at Ralph and Kacoos, the Corn and Shrimp Soup was good. The Grilled Shrimp Sensation Salad, was fair.

I wonder the same, but it's just different strokes for different folks. I personally can't go to an italian place and get a steak because I feel like I could get it anywhere, but some people like steaks at Italian places because they're great quality for a lower price than you'd pay at say, Ruth's Chris.

While Ruffino's is an "Italian" restaurant, I've never been overly impressed by their Italian food. I have had great steaks and fish there, though.

TJ moran when he owned both restaurants would come to ruffinos to get his steak

said he the cuts of beef are exactly the same (same supplier) but he liked the way Peter Sclafini handled his steak better

because it is one of the better steaks in town. their broiler is similiar to Ruths, therefore can cook the steak in ways you cannot at home.

ruffinos does have a good steak...and fwiw, i almost always eat a steak at Louisiana Lagniappe, French Market Bistro, Ruffinos and LV.

but my wife is like some of you, prefers me to cook her one. i guess im just a carnivore!

I agree, the first few times I went there I got Italian and was disapointed and could not see what the big fuss was about Ruffinos, since I have had steaks and fish and been very happy

Glad I'm not the only one. I ate there Wednesday night. While it's a pretty decent place, I never walk out of there feeling like I had a great experience.

Now you're on the list as well. Ruffino's is a "made" ristorante on the TDF&DB

Haha I'm well aware of that. I don't mind being on the list, I don't go there that frequently anyway. Hopefully the F&D board mafia don't find out my real identity.

My meal there on Wednesday wasn't bad, by the way. Our drinks and apps were great, actually. I was pretty disappointed when my Tripletail was over-cooked and a little dry. That's too good of a fish to mess up. The other major deficiency was the kitchen being "out" of multiple items on the menu that others at the tables tried to order at 8 PM.

Some of the best steaks in this city were at The Village (the original-Ms. Fanny's-her son Joe Distafano owned Jack Sabins) which was a great Italian as well as The Little Italy restaurant off Florida and Allelo Drive (long since gone)

Another great steak was at Giamanco's on Government which also had great Italian and great seafood.

Just because it isn't a "steak house" doesn't mean it isn't good. I grew up eating all of them as well as the best in town, Jack Sabin's. I miss all of those restaurants.
