He hired some crappy guides it looked like, made us look like it’s too hard to get food off the land in Louisiana

To me, this is a try at what Anthony Bourdain was doing. I like Gordon, but hated the yelling bullshite of his other shows. I can actually watch a full episode of this. And it's pretty good. Not saying he has filled the shoes of Anthony, but it's a good show and maybe Gordon can grow into it a bit.

Watching the cooking part near the end it looked like Gordon had sweet potatoes or something orange and in chunks in his roux.

Also as I was watching the craw fish boil, when they did the seasoning after boil. I told my wife, tigerdroppings is going to have a meltdown over this viet-cajun style crawfish

Probably better than 90% of the other ways we've seen on tv

Not sure how many nutria he wound up getting but that inside fishing trip was a disaster-----then hopping on a plane to get out to Chandeleur Island for 3 barely legal specks was a waste of time.

Eric Cook posted this video of GR making a Cajun breakfast sandwich on Facebook. Here's the youtube link.

I didn't watch the show yet, so I don't know if this clip was on it. It doesn't appear to be part of the show.

Yeah it was odd that they couldn’t get him on some better fish.

He hates heat. Black pepper is hot to him.

They boiled it with seasoned water, which is good, but they did add a sauce on afterward. That is a typical Asian take on it.

At least they didn't boil it in plain water and dump the seasoning on afterwards and stick it in an ice chest.

This seems to be the common theme for all travel shows in Louisiana. They pick the WORST guides for fishing/hunting or showing off the land. They pick some over-confident overweight coonass who "grew up in these parts" to airboat these people around. An airboat is ok for traveling to and fro, but it is horrible for catching game. It's loud as frick and scares everything off. But these local morons think they have to be as cliche as possible to show off "real Louisiana" when they are simply a caricature of what the state is, and isn't indicative of what the majority of people are like down here. I blame the producers for finding these idiots, and the local idiots for "showing this yankee how its done" type attitude only to strike out 9/10 times.

Eh...you could tell they were going at some random time during the day and by the way they were dressed, it was probably December or January. Probably not the best fishing conditions.

It wasn't bad, they went nutria hunting and Gordon missed a few that he shot at and finally shot one. That is essentially when they cut to him leaving so we have no idea how many were actually killed.
The crawfish the traps started slow and then picked up and they got at least a sack full. The people showed him how they are and he tried one and the producers then edited to him leaving.

The fishing one was bad and they were not fishing off an airboat or anything. Just nothing was biting so he flew to another location and same thing. Anyone who has fished knows some days suck and since he probably didn't have multiple days to film they took what they had.

Then he went frogging where they showed him catch 3 of them before editing to show him arriving back at the camp site the next day.

Out of all of it the fishing is the only one we know they struggled with and fishing is also the hardest one to predict when they will be biting.

I'm going to watch it tonight. My rant was more in general after seeing other travel shows locally. It's rare to have a good representation of the state on TV. However, one of my favorites was no reservations, cajun country. WHere they have a boucherie. That was an awesome episode.

And considering they were wearing heavy clothes and you could see their breath...it wasn't crawfish season when this was filmed

Yeah, looked to be filmed in Jan/Feb, so not really ideal sportsman weather.
