- Pook's Crawfish Hole: It's in Sante Fe, TX. Between Houston and Galveston. 40 minute drive, but they are absolutely perfect and it's a cool little joint with great service and you can pull up an ice chest filled with beer or liquor. #6.99lb as of last week.

Props to you for making the drive down...

This is the right answer, OP.

I'm going to have to check them out.

Cabo in Clearlake had good crawfish, though I haven't had their's in a couple years.

Concert Pub on Richmond is pretty solid and pretty cheap. Best I've had within Houston.

I've had them at BB's Cafe and they were ok.

Most places are crap and just throw some seasoning on the outside.

Thanks for the recommendation

Yeah, we've been back twice since my initial trip. I love that place. It's kinda me and my girlfriends every other Sunday tradition. We gather up a few friends, stop by Spec's, then drive down to Pook's to eat and drink for a few hours.

It was funny my girl was pissed at me for throwing a fit about "LA" Crawfish. Told me I was being to picky and she thought they were good. Boy, did she change her tune after her first trip to Pook's, haha. She even admitted I was right and that this is the way crawfish were meant to be done. And she never admits to being wrong. lol

I recommend Rose's but there are a few good places to buy in Kemah.

Cajun Connection in Cypress along 290 - dude is a total slacker but on Fridays and weekends he usually has some. Also on the weekend there is a trailer outside the HEB way out on 290 that does a good job.

Out by the new Buckeys way out on 290 there is a little shack I am thinking about checking out - it just looks right.

damn, really?

I like BB's food for the most part. Gumbo is pretty good for Texas and their poboy's are legit (kind of hard to frick up a poboy tho)

Haven't had their crawfish and doesn't look like I ever will.

Went a while ago, don't really remember other than that it was better than Ragin Cajun.
It was also after a bunch of day drinking.

Concert Pub has them for $5 a pound, that's where I normally go if I'm not doing them myself. They aren't Louisiana caliber, but they are as good or better than anywhere else I've found in Houston for a good bit cheaper.

Mozelle's on Heights blvd cooks them like back home. No dusting. But they were expensive and small last time I went. Hopefully they will be better in a few weeks.

The dusting is bad, but honestly people do it in louisiana too. I had crawfish at a place in breaux bridge. A lot of them were mushy and "extra spicy" was dusted with seasoning. Pretty disappointing

Carlos Beer Garden, hwy 3 and Nasa, has a guy from Hahnville that used to do their crawfish. I'm checking to see if he still does them. It's all you can eat, not sure if it's daily though.
