I've seen where folks put mustard on them. I can't recall if I've had that style before or what it tastes like.

Is this a good method to use? I am not a big fan of mustard. How noticeable is the mustard flavor

It’s not noticeable IMO

It’s not very noticeable. Subtle and cuts down on the fishy flavor that catfish can have imo.

I always just let the catfish soak in mustard and your favorite seasoning blend before beginning the fryinf process.

Won’t taste the mustard at all. It will give you a little bit of a thicker crust too.

yes its mostly what you taste, but if that is what you are used to it tasting like, then you wont even notice, which is why many say you wont taste it.

catfish doesnt have much of its own flavor so most people create flavor with the batter by using beer batter or mustard batter or something. dipping in milk is another way i've seen it done.

i like natural fish taste so all i ever do is salt and pepper the fish then toss it in corn "flour" (cant stand that gritty corn meal shite) and fry it just like that.

then i let people decide on their own to add to it if they want tarter sauce, catsup, mustard dip, or whatever they like

I'm gonna try out a new corn meal recipe today as well. It's 1/2 cornmeal mixed with 1/2 pancake mix.

its best to just use straight up corn flour (fish fry)

try it, you wont ever go back to that gritty corn meal again

My go to that many have enjoyed: Yellow mustard, pickle juice, crystal and worsestershire make up my wet. The dry is half cornmeal, half fish fry, and some Tony’s.

The pickle juice really adds a nice layer to the overall batter.

This is wrong. Unless you are really caking it on with the intention of it tasting like mustard, you aren’t going to notice it unless told it was mustard.
