Have some friends coming in from Boise to NOLA for the first time during the 2nd weekend of Jazz Fest. I’ve only been a few times over the years and have never tried to grab dinner after.

Is it a bitch? Obviously I should get reservations if possible. Which will have to be later as I assume it’ll take at least an hour if not longer to get back to the rooms. No clue where to take them... haven’t done dinner in NOLA in a while and I’m not sure which way to go. I’d lean towards it being a jeans type of joint and nothing too upscale which would require being “dressed up” b/c I’m sure it would be a quick turnaround on the changing.

I think they are game for most types of food.

In gretna... but it’s a long story. Ha

Me and the wife have a air BnB condo near the quarter, so we will be using it as a base until they head back to their room later.

Seaworthy is open late. Excellent oysters and burgers and other plates. Laid back, cool space that is kind of off the beaten path

Bakery bar afterwards for dessert

Ya if you call before this week is up

Try

Cavan
Toups south

Or you could prob sneak into a place like Ancora for some pizza. Past 8:30 or so they are pretty dead

Maypop ain’t happening and it’s looks good. Can maybe do seaworthy on Saturday, but Toups and Cavan have spots both nights.

Also, I forget about Katie’s. I’ve never been to Mandinas though....

Gretna has a Waffle House now where Honeys used to be.

Ha.

I know nothing about Gretna’s food scene. Just want to show these West Coasters a good time and some good food.

In all seriousness, have them swing by the Old Point Bar one night on their way back to Gretna for a good time.

Any new bars that are a must?

I’m taking them to Lafitte’s cause i kinda have to, but that’ll be more for a drink and the experience. Then make a move to somewhere.

The plans are to hit jazz fest around 1-2 and take it easy while there. Then grab some dinner and get after it a bit. They will be in BR with us for a 1.5 days and then head to NOLA a day earlier than us.

Longway Tavern in the quarter has become a popular spot for drinks and small plates. May be an option post Lafitte's as you can walk there.

Wrong Iron is a new place in Mid City. It's a big yard with tables, food truck, and an inside bar. Could group that in with a trip to Bayou Beer/Wine Garden

Take them to Sylvain, then walk over to One Eyed Jacks for some more music. It’s Jazz Fest, and they’ll find the Jackson Square area charming at night.

Have them eat up at Jazz Fest and just have drinks after..Had this happen years ago and the people were full from the food at the fest that they didn't want to eat after. If they still want to eat try and get far away from the jazz fest area.
