I’ve had the burgers at Hondo’s and they are legit. We go to Crossroads to listen to live music and get food. They had a cowboy cut steak that was good last time we went.

Hondo's for lunch or casual dinner.

Old German Bakery for breakfast or lunch.

Hill & Vine for lunch or dinner and wine.

Martini's for seafood and cocktails.

Vaudeville for lunch or dinner.

This is a great option.

Also you have to go to Ottos. It's our go to.

I was very underwhelmed by old german bakery food so I've only had it once. The pastries though are incredible.

Don't forget to drop by the Dutchman's market and load up on dried sausage.

Kids spots:

Agree with Hondo’s. We also like Prometheus Pizza. Los Tios is chain but decent Tex mex and margaritas.

Don’t take kids but great: Cabernet Grill.

Make your wife hate you: there’s a Mr. Gatti’s.

Pecan Grove Store, Hilltop Cafe, Alamo Springs....Old Tunnel State Park is right next to Alamo Springs and has a short, easy hiking trail. Bankersmith is near there and has a couple of goats living in an old double decker trailways bus. I've never eaten there but just sit outside and have a beer. They just changed to food to a seafood boil concept which sounds awful. In Comfort, Highs Cafe is good and Comfort Pizza although you have to order your pizza the day before which is a pain.
