I can walk in any Randazzo's or Haydel's and get a fresh cake with no issues. Manny tried the "we're selling out" shite a few years ago but he learned to just have them ready because the product is good enough to sell. Sure he still runs out every now and then but the faux demand is silly.

Damn, you sure are butthurt over king cakes dude.

And try going to Randazzos the two weeks leading up to Mardi Gras and see about getting a cake with no issues.

If you don't mind waiting in line for about 30 minutes, there's no issue

DP last year was a shite show, but I'm not sure how many more they could have baked and stored. Their warehouse was stacked full of cakes toe two times I went out there.

Yeah but Randazzos will def be sold out early in the day during those times. He doesn’t have a large production, so there is only so much they can do.
I would guess that’s the same for DP.

Can’t believe he thinks any of these folks are not baking as much to create a “fake” demand.

I don’t have an issue with the high end king cakes. I buy them and they’re great. The issue is everyone else buys shitty Walmart king cakes

Then they turn around a create a faux demand by not baking enough so it's become a "hard to get" cake.

Lol if you think the business that was cheap enough to short their employees Overtime does not bake enough cakes on purpose to create a faux outrage instead of making as much money as they can

Yesterday I bought the last cake at the Haydels magazine pop up. It happens

They probably paid their employees over-time under the table CASH, and somebody ratted them out.

This is New Orleans, Htown, not Colorado.

someone could make a "Queen cake" with rainbow sparkles instead of MG colors on top and they would sell a decent amount. If I had a bakery falling on hard times I would definitely cater the LGBTQRZ community.

You know why all Randazzo's are constantly looked at as the gold standard? Because they've been doing shite the same way for over 50 years. Haydel's too. If you would've eaten their king cakes then and now you wouldn't see any differences. Dong Phuong is the new kid on the block now and is vastly overrated.

Meh, I've had all three of the ones you mentioned above shipped to me over the last few years. Dong Phuong was by far the best. I find Randazzo's to be good but nothing special. That's the reaction I get when I let people in the NW try them also.
