It’s about damn time Randazzos is not mentioned. The most overrated cinnamon roll king cake ever made. I do not know why people like this so much. Growing up king Cake was not a glorified Cinnabon! But I guess as taste buds changed for the sweet so did Randazzos popularity. I am one that cannot eat it and will not. I look forward in trying some from the list above.

The pictures of every king cake tells me the person likes the powder colored plastered all over which I'm not a big fan of. I rather just have the really good icing and some sprinkles on top.

I loved the Dong Phong cake I had, but it cost $18.

Dong Phoung did not pay their workers over time last Mardi Gras. Cheated them out of $127k.

Randazzos is like Barry bonds. He could have won mvp every year. So they just don’t mention

And that's why the courts ordered them to pay the money. I don't think they will be that stupid this time around.

Randazzos cream cheese filled is still my favorite king cake of them all.
There is nothing about their cakes that I can figure out justifies any hate

People overthink king cakes now. Everyone is trying to be different for the sake of being different. You know why all Randazzo's are constantly looked at as the gold standard? Because they've been doing shite the same way for over 50 years. Haydel's too. If you would've eaten their king cakes then and now you wouldn't see any differences. Dong Phuong is the new kid on the block now and is vastly overrated. A few years ago is was Sucre and then Caluda's. They can thank social media and the trendy fricks that follow that type of shite.

Not a bad list, but you forgot:
--Tartine
--Bywater Bakery
--Gracious Bakery

I don't like the poofy, floofy Randazzo's (any of the family branches) or Gambino's cakes. I prefer the texture to be a bit more bready than squishy danish dough.

It's so stupid. They've been around since the 80's. They're the new kid on the block and have greatly benefited from the hipsters and transients in the city praising them on social media. Then they turn around a create a faux demand by not baking enough so it's become a "hard to get" cake. frick that. I can walk in any Randazzo's or Haydel's and get a fresh cake with no issues. Manny tried the "we're selling out" shite a few years ago but he learned to just have them ready because the product is good enough to sell. Sure he still runs out every now and then but the faux demand is silly.
