Egg Cookers

i dont always want to get out the big pot and carefully watch eggs to make perfect hard-boiled eggs.

some are 'boil in water' and some are 'steam' does it make a difference?

are they as good as advertised?

We have the older model of this one
LINK

It works just fine, it's kinda inconsistent but it cooks pretty well and is easy to use. Wife loves it.

ER.. water in pot... eggs in water. bring water to full boil... take off heat... top on pan. wait 12 minutes. hard boiled egg.

Why would you need a cooker for that?

I've never used one. I've never even seen one in person. If you cook them a lot and like soft boiled eggs, maybe it would be worth it. Hard boiled eggs are too easy to make to justify a purchase for me.

Load the eggs in a pot, cover with water, cover and bring to a boil. When they boil, turn off the heat, set the timer for 12 minutes and then put the eggs in a cold bath immediately to cool them. I don't know how to watch the eggs because they are covered.

because i always seem to frick them up somehow and they look like a mutilated corpse trying to get the shell off.

Add a little vinegar to your water when you boil or boil older eggs. They will peel better.

I got one and I love it. Just gotta save the directions so that you know how much water to add with how many eggs and your desired done-ness. I couldn't make a soft boiled egg to save my life until I got my egg cooker.

Or use older eggs.

I don't think the egg cooker is going to help you peel them better. On occasion, I have some stubborn shells, usually when the eggs are too fresh or I haven't cooled them quite enough.

Put them straight from the hot water into an ice water bath. Let them cool for a few minutes and the shells come right off.

I have also heard that if you peel them while submerged in the ice water the shells slide right off- but I have never tried that.

This is exactly the method we use.

I've been using one of these almost every day at work for about 4 years, and I can honestly say I have only ever popped one that I can remember (which stands out because it was like 6 months ago).

I've got that shite perfected. Hard boiled, soft boiled, any kinda boiled, I can nail that shite in the microwave.

I never understood why people needed rice cookers, I really don't understand why an egg cooker is needed.

The trick to being good at microwave cooking is to know to always play with heat settings and not cook everything with the magnetron on at all times.

It's really, really idiot proof. And, you don't have to wait for water to boil.
