Mardi Gras Road Trip from BR

Posted by WhoDatHippie on 1/13/21 at 10:27 am
Looking to plan a last minute road trip from BR over Mardi Gras break. Two kids (3&8) so don't want it to be too far. Considered renting an RV as well but haven't looked into it much. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated!

We are taking the kids (6 & 2) to Tampa in a few months and I am trying to decide what area will be best for us to stay in. We are planning on doing Busch Gardens, the aquarium, possibly going up to Disney for a day, maybe the beach... we haven't made any definite plans yet. We are leaning towards an AirBnB rather than a hotel. Any recommendations of where to stay/kid friendly restaurants/things to do would be much appreciated!

*Not trying to hijack, I am happy to start another thread if needed I just figured I would start here since it was on the front page already!

I was thinking this. How's the atmosphere? I've only been once.

BR Dinner Rec

Looking for Friday night dinner suggestions for some friends that will be in from out of state. They are spending a few days in Nola then driving up on Friday for the game. This is their first trip so I definitely want to send them somewhere with a great atmosphere and food but not super expensive. Chimes is already on the docket for brunch Sunday. Any and all suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Put them straight from the hot water into an ice water bath. Let them cool for a few minutes and the shells come right off.

I have also heard that if you peel them while submerged in the ice water the shells slide right off- but I have never tried that.

it's ginger beer, not ginger ale

This is what I thought as well but it seems like I recall the thread he is referencing saying it was ginger ale.

ETA:
I recalled correctly

Valid point.
What is the F&DB's opinion on this list? Did they accurately pick the best places across the state?

No worries! I figured you just missed it! Thank you!!

Should I assume that's a no to my soup recipe request?
Gris, would you be willing to give up your corn and crawfish soup recipe? We just got our first haul of corn and I have some leftover tails from a boil that I have been trying to decide what to do with!

Gris, I am with you on that. This is an abomination and people that do these things must be stopped!! :banghead: :banghead:

I'd say I'm just as bad for loving it all though

Nah. I am of the belief that we aren't as bad for enjoying it as they are for imagining it!

I enjoyed Girl on the Train. However, I also enjoyed Gone Girl.

I read Sharp Objects and tried to read Dark Places but just couldn't. After reading those I've wondered about Flynn's mental state.
I was hoping you would get some info in this thread! I would love to see this in theaters!
