Walker's Drive In in Jackson is another solid lunch choice. Excellent food. Not far from I 55.

There cannot be any better soul food in the South than Bully's in Jackson:

Just in case everyone else strikes out:

Krystal on Siwell road. Also Popeyes, McDonalds, Wendy's Captain D's, Taco Bell Subway, Back Yard Burgers, Waffle House and two or three Mexican Places. I think there is also a Chinese AllYouCanEat Buffet.

Burger King on Daniel Lake Blvd.

Whataburger, Waffle House, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Arby's, all in a three block stretch on High Street. I think one of the gas stations there cooks fried chicken.

Several Krystal locations in town.

Olive Garden and Red Lobster at County Line Road.

Hardees on County Line

Good luck with parking. If you're in that area there's a good BBQ called Pig and Pint.

Dave's Triple B in Jackson. It's literally the easiest restaurant for you to get to and it's good. Just get off at High Street from I55 and it's right there. That's you're best bet.

Did this in the summer and was impressed with a lunch stop at Pig & Pint.

Big Bad Breakfast in Oxford was legit but City Grocery was very overrated.

BBB and Oxford Grillhouse are both excellent breakfast/brunch spots.

Boure’ and Oxford Grillhouse are great dinner spots.

There’s a shitload of other places that have opened lately and I haven’t been up there to check them out. When we do go, I like to stick to the classics.

Oh, and Taylor Grocery for catfish and a fun atmosphere. Take your own liquor and it has to be on the floor. They’ll provide cups and ice.

And to the guy that said Bumpers, that Apple Pie is phenomenal

If you stop in Jackson as mentioned Walkers and Pig n Pint are in the Fondren area exit at HWY 25/Lakeland Drive and back west about a mile. In that area there is also Babalu and Saltine all four within a block or two of each other.

In Oxford my favorite lunch spot is AJAX which is located on "the square".

Ajax is the best bang for your buck and everything on the menu is excellent unless you’re the dumbass that orders the pulled pork sandwich. Boure has always seemed to get fairly mixed reviews (I guess because it’s sorta pricey?) but I’ve loved every meal I’ve ever had there and it’s always been my favorite restaurant on the Square.

BBB is IMO by far the most overrated Oxford restaurant, you’ll wait around forever and while it’s good, there’s nothing particularly interesting on the menu. You’ll probably like though because apparently I’m the only person ever that doesn’t adore BBB.

Volta and Rice and Spice are hidden gems if you want something off the Square and on the cheap side. If you want a burger don’t get sucked into Neon Pig, they’re great but Handy Andy’s across the street is the real deal. The service sucks arse and the wait can take forever but Handy Andy’s makes the best burger I’ve ever had and doesn’t have the super pretentious/contrived/hipstery vibe like Neon Pig.

Lamar Lounge, TYFYS and RIP in peace

Drove past there the other day, but who cares?

Fairly certain it is not the first inaccurate statement made on TD.

If so, then "Please Forgive me Oh Great Chicken, for I have done wrong!"

Good list but Ruth's is no longer there. Its now Koestler Prime, which is the guy that had taken over Shapleys. He wanted to move Shapleys to the Ruth's spot but the family had put fine print in the purchase agreement that made that impossible. So they bought the original Shapleys back and he moved with the same recipes but new name. I would second Pig and Pint for a cool lunch spot. Another one that has not been mentioned is a little further off the interstate but worth it is The Gathering in Livingston town square. Good food and neat area.

Almost included St Leo in my post but didn’t because it’s still fairly new, I only went once while I was still in school but it was excellent. A good choice along with Grillehouse if you want a restaurant outside of the older, really established places.

Also, forgot to mention LB’s Meat Market for lunch.
