Dave Rader

Heard that Saban tapped Dave Rader as an analyst/consultant. Ballsy move. You have to give the man credit, he has locked and loaded this staff.
re: Phil Longo to UNC as OC
Posted by JumboFisher on 12/11/18 at 2:03 pm to fillmoregandt
A sad day for Ole Miss. Longo has been dubbed the "new Saban" by most people familiar with him. Mack has maybe 4 decent years left as a coach - clearly UNC is thinking big picture by hiring Longo as OC. He'll probably be the coach in waiting and take UNC into stellar regions once he's HC.
Tommy West
Posted by JumboFisher on 12/3/18 at 12:57 pm
It's about that time for a school to give Tommy West another go at HC. Louisville? Georgia Tech? He's a proven winner and laid the foundation of success at current winners like Clemson and even Memphis.
Larry Coker and Georgia Tech?
Posted by JumboFisher on 11/29/18 at 11:39 am
Would love it if the GT brass takes a hard look at Coker. Could be a good move. A National Championship winning coach that could compete with the Clemsons, the Georgias, etc.
Fulmer to UNC
Posted by JumboFisher on 11/20/18 at 10:33 am
Hearing that Philip Fulmer is "the guy" at UNC to right the ship after mostly abysmal years under Fedora. Can't wait to see the staff Phil puts together there.
Rip Scherer to Ole Miss?
Posted by JumboFisher on 11/16/18 at 10:19 am
Since Louisville seems to be determined to replace Petrino with Matt Luke at pretty much all costs, who do you think Ole Miss ends up with? Seems that there's a lot of rumblings that Rip Scherer may be the guy. What say you.
Would you hire Booger McFarland as HC?
Posted by JumboFisher on 10/22/18 at 9:05 pm
I know I would. His savvy is beyond impressive. Puts Gary Danielson to shame. Put him with Phil Longo for OC, and I think playoff appearances and championships would flow.

Gus out, Longo In?
Posted by JumboFisher on 10/15/18 at 2:28 pm
Does Auburn fire Gus and hire Phil Longo? I don't know, but I think it'd be worth it. There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and a Phil Longo offense being prolific as hell. What say you?
Is Longo the Heir Apparent?
Posted by JumboFisher on 9/13/18 at 3:35 pm
Some are speculating that when Saban finally retires, Phil Longo will be the guy to take over. I think this Saturday, when the Tide rolls into Oxford, we're going to see why:
1. He grooms QBs.
2. He knows how to get the ground game going.
3. He takes no guff.

Phil Longo is the Future
Posted by JumboFisher on 9/6/18 at 2:43 pm
Phil Longo is absolutely on a roll. As I've said, this guy is going to be the head coach of a dynasty in 5 or so years. Get him an experienced DC like a Joe Kines, and #LongoBall will be a household hashtag.

Scelfo
Posted by JumboFisher on 8/31/18 at 9:03 am
Throughout last night's drubbing, all I could think is that Tulane really screwed up when they parted ways with Scelfo. I'll always be a proud Scelfo guy.
Lou Holtz returning to coaching?
Posted by JumboFisher on 8/30/18 at 2:40 pm
Heard that if Mason is ousted at Vandy, Holtz would be the likely successor. Thoughts?
re: Mark Stoops

I consider Stoops to be the second best game day coach in the conference right now. Let him get his players.

While you're all focused on his looks, he's gonna make Fake Gosling look like a smarmy pool boy on Saturday!
Matt Luke - The Start of Something Big
Posted by JumboFisher on 8/30/18 at 12:45 pm
Matt Luke learned the ropes under one of the best minds in college football in Hugh Freeze. Sure, Freeze had a penchant for hookers, dip, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Christian bro country, but he also had a penchant for wins and points, particularly over a guy by the name of Nick Saban.
So now there's Matt Luke. He learned under the maestro's tutelage. He's smart, he's young, he's talented, and most of all - he's hungry. He's like Freeze, but without the vices and twitter sermons. Watch out, SEC - this is the start of something big.

You believe in alternate reality? Anything can happened. Just like coach O got the job and was there anyone else better at that time and who will be the next one if coach O does not work out at LSU? You get my drift?
This guy. Gets. It.
Herm Edwards in the SEC
Posted by JumboFisher on 8/24/18 at 3:08 pm
Edwards is one of the top names that gets floated around when people start talking vacancies. Let's say, for example, Eddie O fizzles out at LSU. Odds Herm Edwards takes the reigns and also succeeds? I'm not a betting man, but the odds are in Herm's favor.

Phil Longo is the "New Saban"
Posted by JumboFisher on 8/24/18 at 9:58 am
Every now and then, a coordinator comes along who just has that "it" factor, and you know it's only a matter of time before they're a head coach at a major power and a dynasty starts. Right now, Phil Longo is that guy. Big things coming this guy's way, and it's either gonna be hop on board or GTFO.
Gary Danielson to Tennessee?
Posted by JumboFisher on 11/27/17 at 7:42 pm
Hearing a lot of rumblings that Gary Danielson may be the guy in Knoxville now. Interesting move, but apparently his X’s and O’s knowledge displayed on CBS every week has excited the UT brass. Some have gone so far as to say Tyrone Nix is set to be DC. About to get interesting....
Watson Brown to Ole Miss
Posted by JumboFisher on 7/21/17 at 1:08 pm
Hearing rumblings that Watson Brown may be Freeze's permanent replacement. It's a little left-field, but it makes sense. Great pedigree and spotless personal record. Damage has been done in Oxford, but it looks like Coach Brown may be the salve.
Rick Ray to Mizzou?
Posted by JumboFisher on 3/11/17 at 10:26 am
Rick Ray to Mizzou makes sense. He was in the "big leagues," so to speak, with MS State. Then he got sent back to the farm league at SEMO to fine tune his skills. After his success there, he's ready to move on back up in the spotlight. The rapport he has built with Missouri high school coaches would be the cherry on top.
Met Dave Neal last night
Posted by JumboFisher on 3/10/17 at 7:55 am
Decided to go out for a late night bite in Nashville at Prince's Hot Chicken, and I turned around and there was Dave Neal.
Long story short, we chatted for a good eight minutes, and he was as kind and gracious as a celeb could be. I told him I've always enjoyed his commentary, that I fondly remember waking up on Saturday and tuning into the JP/Lincoln Financial games, and he was really appreciative. I just really appreciate what he's done for this conference, these players, the fans, and collegiate sports in general. #GOAT

Freeze out; Rader in
Posted by JumboFisher on 3/9/17 at 4:11 pm
Hearing a lot of rumblings that Freeze is done and Dave Rader is being brought in for his immediate replacement. If true, it proves this administration is serious about cleaning house and acting swiftly.
Is Orgeron or Freeze considering Buddy Stephens?
Posted by JumboFisher on 12/8/16 at 2:23 pm
Stephens' offenses have put up astronomical numbers. Methinks he may leave Scooba for an SECW offer.
