Don’t be a clown. Compare apples to apples.

Doris charges $27.00 for a burger right down the street. The burger around the corner at Revolution is $17. The hamburger at Luke is $16.50.

Charging $18.00 for the burger is in line with nearby restaurants.

The $14 soup is again in line with Revolution whose soups range between $14-18. Doris doesn’t offer soup, but all of their appetizers are ~$15.

I’m excited to try the place.

I’m most excited about the croque monsieur.

Especially a burger with fries...

People always get blown away by the food prices at a restaurant. No one ever says with incredulity “$12 to pour a glass of Riesling into a glass or $15 for a vodka soda.”

That menu looks fantastic. It's missing some of the promised items, but I'm sure it will change periodically.

Raises hand slowly...

I think it's highway robbery what restaurants charge for a glass of $15-$25/bottle wine.

I dont actually disagree with you on that, but more that the point is the profit in many restaurants isnt really in food prep, but in drinks. Yet, most people just look at food prices and say "too high for a sandwich", etc...

Labor, perishable nature of most foods, gratuity culture of American restaurant industry, etc... all make the booze markups necessary.

Drinks, some apps and desserts are easily the most profitable for any restaurant.

ETA: For instance, cheesecake costs $0.11 to make; some sell for $8-10.

Grabbed bar seats that first Saturday night...the bar staff was extremely friendly even though they were slammed.

Started with the onion soup...the broth is lighter than many others I’ve had, so not quite as decadent but very good.

Next was the bone marrow...this was solid, served with a butter potato purée instead of bread like I’ve usually seen. The purée came with a delicious rich gravy, though I could’ve used more marrow.

Finished with the steak frites...did filet au poivre over ribeye and wasn’t disappointed. The brown sauce that came with the peppercorn crusted steak had flavors unlike I’ve seen in town in a long time. Different than your typical steakhouse offering, and in a good way. Cook was a true mid rare and just right for us.

Though we left stuffed, prices might be a little high for the portions. The food, four well-made cocktails and two glasses of wine and the bill was $147 before tax. However, for the overall experience we had I didn’t mind the price afterwards...will be going back.

PS...saw both the burger and the croque monsieur go to neighbors at the bar, and both looked REALLY good. Lunch looks like a solid option here too.
