I love it. Have 5 or 6 times since they first opened and it's better every time I go .. a sign of a solid restaurant IMO. Don't neglect the meats and charcuterie, it's fantastic. Very interesting small plates and entrees as well.

Apparently, I was working under the impression you didn't like it

I'm a fan. It's a very "comfortable" feeling place. The food and atmosphere are very quality without feeling pretentious or like they're trying to be something they are not.

The food menu really is diverse, and both times I went I found everything I ordered to be quite tasty. I've avoided the scallops so far; seeing multiple people order them and instagram them kinda turned me off. Seemed like too much novelty. But I can be unnecessarily judgmental.

I love it.

I consider it elite. But that's just me.

Judge not lest you be judged.

Go on, give them a try.

Go with the correct expectations.

I went the first time and expected to be blown away. Not that kind of place.

As stated, their charcuterie is the strength of the restaurant. IMO

I read the menu when passing by a year or so ago. I wasn't interested...others can enjoy it.

Good place. Interesting. My only complaint is that he sometimes can be too "gimmicky". Food's good, though.

Gimmicky is probably my aversion to the scallops. Cigar box and shite. I dunno. I should probably just try them next time.

Scallops are a boring dish to begin with, then you add their "novelty" aspect and it's a forgone conclusion for me that I won't be ordering them at Root.

I actually like scallops. I make some fantastic ones. But I rarely see anything with them that blows my mind or makes me think, “I need that!" If I'm dining out I want to do something I can't easily recreate at home.

Great place. Have been 3 times.

Make sure you ask your waiter for advice, etc. I found the menu to be quite confusing and the waiter can help guide you if needed.

I think they're trying way too hard to try to hard.

That said, they have one of my favorite happy hours in town.

You didn't eat there but you weren't impressed.

Well...your loss. It is one of the city's best.
