Best shite I've had from The Veil in a minute. Potato Napkin. Also the worst name I've had in a minute. Meh. Juicy mango and orange with the mildest hint of bitterness on the finish. Good stuff.

Really, I've liked a lot I've had from Veil. Not 5* but certainly 4-4.75* to me...

I've really had some stuff from The Veil that disappointed me. Granted, not the super limited White Ferrari stuff, but the semi-regular stuff. My thought is that I'm getting that for Parish stuff, and I don't think it's so much better that it's worth the cost of what I'm trading + the cost of shipping. That being said, I would definitely consider trading for this Potato Napkin.

I've felt the same about 3 Floyd's beers, I quit trading for them because I felt some Louisiana stuff was just as good when you factor taste + cost + shipping.

Colorado has taught me that some of the best beer available is the beer right down the street. The brewery closest to my home and work are my favorite breweries because I can see when they're canning and I can literally purchase beer right off the line.

I need to go to Colorado, Portland had a lot of great beer but I feel confident in saying Louisiana isn't THAT far behind.
Now I stress that because by the time we reach what they are doing now they may have surpassed it. I had a lot of great beer and a lot I'm bringing home but nothing that makes me quiver. Just a lot of great to solid breweries unlike Last where we have such a dip from the good to great to the rest.

Without confirmation I am pretty sure the name is an inside joke for the people that follow the Behind the Veil Facebook page. Adding pictures of a potato was a thing for a while among members because of how stupid it was and how much hype came with each weekly release announcement. But yeah, Potato Napkin is a pretty unflattering name.

Jones which part of Denver do you live in? I used to live in Lowry from 2009-2013.

Well. shite's good. But good to have some context.

This shite, however -- nope. No bueno. Bad. Tons of milky lacto on the finish with a healthy dose of malt.

I figure this didn't turn out like they thought.

This one was solid. But it goes back to the conversation of what's worth trading for. Out of the 5 I've had tonight, 2 were probably worth trading for. And of those 2, one was definitely, hands down worth it.

You just described the most frustrating part of The Veil. While they make some incredible beers, most of their releases are first-timers so you have no clue if it is going to be good or not. Add this to the lines for the Tuesday releases where very few people actually get to review the new beers and many trades get made before good or underwhelming beers are identified.
