Portland has a lot of breweries, but I prefer the great taprooms. The nice thing about the taprooms is that there is very little overlap. In most places, you can go to 5 taprooms and all 5 of them will have 10-12 of the same beers with a few taps that are different. Taprooms in Portland have very little overlap. You go from Apex to The Beermongers to Imperial, and you won't see the same beer twice.
You will want to go to Great Notion. I guarantee you that you will change your opinion.

frick Washington. The quality of beer there is mediocre. Bale Breaker is pretty good. Elysian is OK. Fremont's BA stuff is excellent, but you won't find it 99% of the time. After that, there's nothing worth going for.
You can go to Chucks Hop Shop, but all the good stuff there is from Oregon or Cali.
