FBD is my last Dad’s Day IPA while brewing up my Ginger+Cardamom Peach Sour for Nola on Tap.

It’s still drinking nicely. Bright and beautiful, no signs of oxidation. There’s little to no head retention, but the body’s not too thin. Nose is citrus/piney hoppiness. Drinks dry and slightly resinous with a moderate bitterness and little sweetness. Tastes like a Kveik Brut, and it’s good. Refreshing on this warm, July morning.

SBD is a Homebrew Strawberry Brut. The base Brut came out just too astringently bitter. I think I both overhopped and went too high on my Sulfates which led to a very dry beer that overexentuated the hops. Well, to combat this, I knew some sweetness and added fruit would quell the astringency by taking the edge off and balancing it out.

It worked great! Gave it to my Dad blind and he asked if it was my NEIPA . I took strawberry jam and mixed it with some warm water then strained that through a sieve and poured the beer on top of that syrup. The fruit is super subtle, but the sweetness definitely calms that bitterness down to make for an almost negroni-sequel aperitif beer.

FBD

ETA: Classic. Snapped the picture at an Alex Hornibrook turnover. So glad that guy is at FSU now. He’s their problem.
