Speaking of first time beers, was shopping at rouses and picked up a Bear Republic Racer 5 today. Seen this beer for months while shopping but never pulled the trigger. Hoping it's as good as the reviews.

It will be great, unless it is old.

Nice DIPA. Lots of citrusy hops.

What he said. It is amazing how many beers we've tried this year!

Glad to hear. This is a 2012 so its probably not as good aged, but still a pretty good beer.

The smoke is pretty pronounced. I'm not sure I've ever had a beer with this much smoke but I like it.

stuck at work. Out of beer at the house. This weekend I know that Christmas food will have its way with me this weekend since I have to work for Christmas, so I may stay off beers until I recover.

FBD-Goose Island Summertime
SBD-Ommegang Scythe & Sickle

It seems like I might have stumbled into a special find in Michigan. Feeling pretty good about life until the UPS store informed my on the ground purchaser that it's illegal to ship alcohol out of Michigan except for a limited number of wines (I'm assuming made there). Any suggestions in how to game this one? Seems like I could ship a semiautomatic weapon easier. So much for free trade-no wonder their economy is in the toilet.

I can't remember the last time this happened to me

FBD is No Label Ridgeback. Not bad, but its an amber, so not bad is about as good as it gets

SBD is another round of Shmaltz He'Brew Sweet 16

TBD is a New Glarus Thumbprint Apple Ale. Was pretty skeptical, but this is fantastic. Again, New Glarus does not dissapoint.

No, I'm pretty sure they don't make a bad beer. Even if you don't like the particular style it's still a good beer.

Apple ale sounds interesting.

Is there a goodwill for beer? My wife went apeshit over abita strawberry this past summer. I just counted 24 unopened 6-packs not including the singles. Her tastes are now more refined and she'll only drink them on the tennis court. In the meantime she loves drinking my "good beer." I need to donate some summer beer to a good home.
