Bottomland - they had a sours seminar here in Portland last week. I didn't go, but had a friend who did. The brewers from Cascade, Breakside, De Garde, and Block 15 held a class. They opened bottles of their beer and shared with the class and then sat up front and grilled each other about their beers and how they made them.

Apparently, the Cascade and Breakside guys were very scientific in their approach, while the De Garde and Block 15 brewers took the approach of, "Let's throw some shite in there and see what happens."

They all brew good beer, though. I'm hoping to pick up some Block 15 sours next week.

ETA: No BD today. Prolly have a couple tomorrow night because it's OPENING NIGHT for the Hillsboro Hops...

Sure.

What kind of beer is best for that? Amber? Red ale?

It was better than the last time I had it. I havent had many black IPA's, but so far Stone's sublimely self righteous and Dr Hoptagon are my favorites. Imperator is better than the Clown Shoes one IMO, I cant remember the name.

I'm in the "let's throw some shite in there" camp, but I'm also making 5 gallons at a time, so no real loss if it's a dud.

Hoppy Feet.

Uinta's Dubhe is up there with the best I've have. Blakkr was very impressive too. I agree that Stones SSR is the standard.
