I don't think I've ever had an infected beer. does the beer just taste incredibly bad to tell you that it's infected?

I'm far from an expert, but I've been able to tell pretty quickly if a beer is infected... Smells and tastes like vomit

...the first time I tried Westbrook's Gose, it had a little "vomity" taste to it and I didn't care for it all :/
but then again, that was early into my introduction of sours so it could have just been me.
