How is this place? Been meaning to try it. Is it just a good ol' dive bar like Snake's?

Blind Pelican has the patio during the day whereas Avenue doesn't. I like being outside for day drinking.

Oh I didn't know Ave Pub closed their back patio down. That's a shame, it was a nice spot to drink outside on a pretty day.

Blind Pelican's happy hour is pretty legit. Plus it's right on the Ave as opposed to being behind the bar on a patio.

I don't think they do... only the upstairs area.

Yeah I wasn't aware that Delachaise's hrs were different M-Th. Looks like they open at 12 F-Su. Sorry for the confusion.

I was there two or three weeks ago for lunch and they had it open on a Friday afternoon.

One of my biggest complaints is a lack of patio/sidewalk drinking spots. There should be several on Magazine and yet there's like 3 total. And I mean bars, not restaurants people drink at.

It is a legit dive bar with a 6'6" or so ceiling full of younger neighborhood types and old alcoholics depending upon the time. They have a couple of tables on the street. Took a group in for Mardi Gras there. The guys liked it, the girls hated it. I'm a fan.

Avenue Pub, barring the upstairs bar/balcony, is open 24 hours.

You know what would be an excellent Uptown day drinking spot? Aline St. Beer Garden, only they don't open until 4 and they never have any beer on tap. Their sidewalk setup is great, but they way they run it is not great.

I vote Avenue.

I appreciate the idea of someone attempting to build an authentic German style beer garden (biergarten?) in New Orleans, by putting in the authentic tables and all.

However, everything else about that place seems rather ill conceived, including to location of where they put the table to try to make a "beer garden". Your points about the beer, seems even more sad about this joint.
