Favorite Homemade Dessert

Crème brûlée for me. My wife makes it perfectly! It looks burned a little but that tiny bit of bitter works with the sweet. You can see the vanilla bean in the first pic.

As far as best rendition of a favorite dessert, I probably have to go with Donald Link’s banana pudding. The entire recipe is made from scratch, including the vanilla wafers (which by themselves are incredible). The use of actual vanilla bean throughout it makes it fairly pricey though compared to simpler recipes.

I don't usually make many desserts but when I do, two of my favorites are a peach cobbler and a good old apple pie with the crumbled top on it instead of the plain dough top.
If I had to choose just one, it would be the peach cobbler.

I'm on an Eton mess kick: vanilla sweetened whipped cream, crumbled crisp meringue, fresh strawberries (macerated with a little sugar and maybe a drop of balsamic vinegar if they're not especially sweet).

That's my wife's favorite, but she always instructs the waiter to "lightly torch" her's because she hates the bitter.

Since you like chocolate chip cookies, look up the Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe on the net.
It's a convoluted story about how a woman supposedly got the recipe that is totally bogus, but the recipe is my go-to and I usually make around 25 dozen of them a year to be handed out at Christmas, Easter and other holidays where sweets are appropriate.
