Sorry if this was already addressed but does anyone know what happened recently that set off the current social media brouhaha?

I used to enjoy their sandwiches once in a while but not in months. I met the looney owners one night at barrel proof. Not shocking they’re in trouble but I hope something stupid doesn’t costs them their business.

TIA

I believe an AA female who was wearing a mask entered the establishment and one of the employees made a remark about her potentially trying to rob them. At least that’s what I got looking through the comments earlier

AA girl went in.

Owner (or manager), who is a special guy, made a comment about her wearing a mask.
Told her to take it off, looks like she is trying to rob the place.

AA girl took to Facebook, saying she was racially profiled.

Everyone clutched pearls and demanded an apology.

Fatboy tried to explain their side and apologized.

Wasn't good enough.

Fatboy apologized again.

Still wasn't good enough.

Other than the facebook post their is nothing to show that Fatboy is racist or has ever been racist towards anyone. Fatboy management doesn't realize they are in a no win situation. Absolutely nothing they can say or do will rectify the situation at this point.

I guess they could fire the person if it was a manager. Might help a little.

It sucks if a business owner is a good person and their arse is ruined because of one incident because it’s a racial situation.

It's been deemed too late for them to do anything.

Let’s be fair, their original apology was trash & insulting

That definitely makes it more complicated. Any links or direct quotes that y’all can share?

So, you're offended and rather than say "hey dude, that's a little offensive" and make it a learning moment, you hop on social media and complain. God, I hate millennials.

Now they really have a learning moment.

The most recent apology says the employee in question was reprimanded and that they are going to make everyone go to sensitivity training.

So you're doing nothing, got it. They can recover if they actually do something to move away from this whole thing, but those token BS actions ain't gonna cut it for an outraged public.

The owner is the heirress to the Barq’s empire. Place is always empty .

A new dining destination has set up shop in the Lower Garden District. Gambit reports that Fat Boy Pantry is now slinging ice cream, sandwiches, coffee, and juice on Magazine Street. Former operator of defunct restaurant Cibugnu and root beer heiress, Hillary Barq is behind the project which boasts 16 flavors of ice cream.
