Apparently one of the better BBQ places in KY is not far from me and they're known for their mutton (apparently a Kentucky BBQ thing)

Better than mutton ....sorry could not resist. Go for it, mutton is good.

Never had it, but I would definitely try if in that area. Give us a report on it.

I would eat the hell out of some BBQ mutton.

The dip they make for it is tasty with BBQ beef too. Might make some this coming weekend and throw some beef on the pit.

Couldn't really distinguish the flavor from beef. I got the 3 meat plate with pork ribs, chopped mutton, and mutton. I wanted to get the mutton ribs but they said they always run out soon.
It was good but I don't like that all the meats came with sauce on it already. I prefer to add that myself if I feel like it. If I go again I'll let them know that.
I'll try again and see how the mutton ribs are.

I thought Moonlite was the top bbq especially mutton bbq in Owensboro? I've eaten there a couple of times and it was pretty good a good while back. It was buffet so you could get a lot which was important in my younger days.

Evidently Moonlite is the most popular but this place is regarded as the better one from all of the internet reviews I've read
I'll try Moonlite soon as it's a bit closer to my hotel anyway. Apparently they have some sort of brunch thing too.
There doesn't appear to be much to do here so I'll try the handful of local restaurants they have here. Plenty of chains but I figure at least some of the local places have to be decent. Some appear to have been open for decades so that's a good sign.

Trying to make up for deficiencies in their smoking procedure. Barbecue shouldn't be spelled BBQ and shouldn't have sauce.

Good BBQ can stand without sauce, but sauce isn't a bad thing. I've had plenty of Texas BBQ that sure as hell needed sauce.

No doubt...shitty barbecue is shitty wherever it's from.....and you're still spelling it wrong.

As someone who had to spend time in Owensboro this weekend and went to moonlite, skip it. It's good for people watching but the food is poor. Owensboro on the whole sucked. Dees diner was pretty decent for gigantic pancakes for next to nothing. I wish I would've gone to old hickory

You didn't miss much.
And I agree that the town as a whole does appear to suck so far.
