the rest of the food pretty much sucks.

I wouldn't say it sucks, but it's pretty average and pretty pricey for what it is.

I do love their oysters though.

The family is very charitable. I've been involved with some events that they have donated to as well as some that they come out and grill oysters to help the school/charity raise money.

They also fed a thousands of people for free after Katrina. I will go once or twice a year to eat just because I respect them so much.

I had an even worse experience tonight. No refill for an hour. Never brought my appetizer or side salad. Told me twice I was going to get my refill. Never got one thing I ordered other than our original drinks. As we got up, I left a couple bucks to pay for the soft drinks and sure enough the guy (not our server) was bringing out our entree. I said thanks but we never got anything else we ordered. I won’t be going back and I recommend you don’t either.

The parking was not sufficient. People were parking at the hotel next door. It was crowded and it’s a big restaurant. I understood that. I just can’t imagine a sever being that bad and continuing to have a job there.

I’m not knocking the food or the owners. I’m sure they are great people. I’ve always enjoyed the one in the Hilton and was expecting the same.

Well then why not give it another try in a month?

Not excusing the poor service at all, but when large places open like that, they often have to hire a wider pool than just service industry people since there are so many slots to fill. So couple that with those first few weeks being basically slammed every day, they don’t get to work a lot of slow shifts and ease themselves into what it’s like waiting tables.

Top Golf’s service was atrocious, for example. I was on the opening staff at L’Auberge and we had our asses absolutely handed to us the first few weeks.

BJ’s at the Mall of Louisiana was the same way when they opened. Now their service is top notch.

Went Friday for lunch. 30 minute wait (which i expected on v-day) with a waiting area full of people.

When we got seated I noticed the entire left side of the dining area, probably 30+ tables completely empty. I'm guessing the just didn't have the staff to server that many tables?

Chargrilled oysters were great as usual. Fried shrimp were good. i like the fact that they don't have 1/2 inch of batter.

service was rather slow. again, i think they were understaffed. saw more of the mgt folks wandering by than we did our waitress.

What do you expect from a brand new restaurant?

They only have 4 other locations and only been in the restaurant bidness for 51 years...

You got to give them time to work out the kinks...
