Anyone else notice that the majority of all seafood places had extra crawfish for sale yesterday?

All last week we were told that supply is super low and to reserve them early if you expect to get some. Then Sunday comes and all of the sellers are on fb saying they have extra sacks available.

At $4.75/lb, that tends to happen.

BTW, i cooked about 80 lbs yesterday and they were very good sizes.

Prices caused that. I know quite a few folks who normally have big boils over the holiday weekend, who had other food or boiled shrimp instead.

It seemed that Friday, they were short of crawfish. Several people I know couldn’t find any.

I noticed the opposite. Several sellers were sold out well in advance of yesterday in my area.

I got two sacks from a guy in St Rose. $4.50/lb and nice size.

Everyone in the metro Nola area was sold out by early Saturday, and they didn't even know if they'd be able to fill their Sunday reservations. They weren't expecting any more until Monday or Tuesday.

I drove about an hour to get a sack.

My guy stopped taking orders a month ago. I got on his list last year when I picked up...and did the same this time lol. 4.25/lb and they were some bigguns

Laws of supply and demand are alive and well. That dollar lb jump for Holy Week probably wasn’t a great idea this year

Really great way to further harm the public opinion of the crawfish farmers lol

Don’t know what area you’re talking about. We called 10-15 seafood spots in Metaire/NOLA area on Thursday and had multiple dealers basically laugh at us and say they’ve been sold out for over a week

Hammond

Go back and look at the fb pages for places like B&J Seafood, Miller's Mart Seafood and Portside.

They were all like crawfish for Sunday? Are you crazy?
Then, we have plenty of extras, come and get em.

Every place in SWLA seemed to be sold out Friday night. I’ve never seen a Good Friday when places are sold out.

We had the exact opposite experience. We had two sacks reserved and were told Sunday morning at 9:00 that only one was available.

Supplemented with shrimp thankfully.

Ya, and it was at like 11am. Kind of irked me for a moment.
