Maybe their coffee is good, but I don't drink coffee. But their donuts - the thing they are named for - are terrible.

They opened one up about a year and a half ago near my house. I went a couple of times after they opened, and the doughnuts were not warm, and tasted somewhat stale, and they were out of a lot of different types. I chalked it up to opening jitters.

Went there this morning, as the doughnut shop I will usually stop at had an insanely stupid long line. Got 2 glaze doughnuts. Took a bite in the first one and spit it out. Took a bite of the second and spit it out. Both were hard, stale, and disgusting.

When i was a kid, there was a Dunkin location in Metairie, and when I would spend the night at my grandparents house, sometimes they would go pick up a dozen for breakfast. I remember them to have been pretty good.

Have they just become a glorified coffee shop and given up on doughnuts?

Pretty sure they are made elsewhere and sold there. You’re right, they suck.

I get fresh donuts from an Asian dude who sells community coffee. It’s good for me.

Everything there is awful. The donuts. The coffee. The sandwiches. All absolute garbage.

People where I live treat it like Gods gift to man, though.

I think all the doughnuts are made in Jersey and just shipped to stores. Probably true for the rest of the food too.

Yeah, no difference than a store bought donut that's been on the shelf a few days. We stopped in one in Chicago, awful. Our kids grew up on Meche's Donuts in Lafayette and didn't understand why DD was so bad.

There was a Donuts place on Veterans near Bonnabel in a pink building. I swear that place was a front for drugs or something. The one only time I went the donuts must have been a week old. They had video poker and there was some seedy looking characters playing.

It wouldn't surprise me. The margin on coffee has to be better than doughnuts. When it comes to the doughnuts, Krispy Kreme eats Dunkin alive, so they've gotta do something.

Step 1: Find locally owned bakery/donut shop, even if the line is long.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: PROFIT!

Employee turnover at the store level is so high, it doesn’t make sense to train people to make donuts. I don’t know the % of stores that make their own vs supplied by a central commissary, but I would guess most stores in the south go the commissary route.

There are so many decent donuts places in Nola you should never be subjected to DD.

Check out Blue Dot on Canal St.

Owned by cops from what I hear and they make a pretty good donut from the few I've had from there.

I'm not much on sweets now, especially in the mornings, but as a kid, I'd eat my weight in donuts--------or try to anyway.
