Already did Del Porto last year and have been to Ox Lot many times. We want to try something new and haven't been to either of these.

Have you been to La Provence? Been there for Valentines, my birthday, a few times and it's always been great. I know you said downtown Covington, but hell we were driving from Bay St Louis.

Gallahgers. Best steak on the northshore IMO. Also, all of the other dishes and apps are solid. I'd say it my favorite restaurant in Covington/mandeville area.

I like them both but would choose Gallaghers. Definitely check out Mac's and another one to consider in downtown is Lola. Lola is rustic and has great lunches but they dress it up for dinner.

Gallagher's

Best steak on the northshore IMO.
All of the sides are great.

If she doesn't want a steak, the cedar salmon is awesome. And I don't get excited about salmon unless it's raw.

527 by the Causeway is great too. Basically the same, and closer if you're in Mandeville.

Mac's on Boston

Gahhagher's is great too, but Mac's is best north shore restaurant that I have tried (still need to hit up OxLot). The food is great, and the atmosphere is more romantic IMO. Gallaghers is big, whereas Mac's is somewhat quaint (old house and such).

Yes, La Provence is solid and I actually suggested that to the wife but she said we should try a new place. Based upon the suggestions, we got a reservation at Gallagher's, and will try Mac's on Boston the following month. Thanks!

Gallaghers is legit. Get lunch there about twice a month. Pork chop great deal for the price.

Good list above. Pardo's owners also have Forks n Corks off Bootlegger Rd. in Terra Bella subdivision...very good food.

Happy anniversary!
