Does weather actual affect your cooking?

Slight spin off from cold weather food thread.
Do you let the weather dictate what you cook? I understand that there was a reason in ye olden times why certain things were cooked at times of the year, but in modern times why?
a big one that hits me are big meat roasts. I'll do them anytime i want, but the wife insists they are a cold/winter dish to be made.

Of course. I like more soups and stews when it's cold but I will still cook them year round as well.

Yes. I don’t think I ever cooked a gumbo during the summer time. Also, I don’t grill as much during the summer cause I rather not be in the heat.

well I'm not a big fan of smoking a brisket in subfreezing temps. Likewise, I don't really want to eat chili or gumbo in August. So yeah, weather has some effect on what I cook.

Anything that might take several hours cooking inside is usually a no go during the warmer months simply because I don't want to waste a pretty day inside the kitchen.

We don't do gumbo, shrimp and corn soup, stuff like that except when it's cold. Chili is kind of year round. Big meats are whenever I want them.
Weather does affect my cooking because my deck is not covered, that's where the smoker lives. I'll do it in the rain if I had some event planned, otherwise it's not fun to be out there and fires don't behave the same in the rain.

The broiler gets much more work in the winter, for one.
