I’m usually not the buffet type but I’m a sucker for a good Thai or Indian buffet. I don’t get to Baton Rouge much but attending a meeting there today. Does Thai Pepper still offer a lunch buffet?

Unfortunately, most of the buffets in Baton Rouge did not reappear after COVID. Oriental Pearl still has a buffet, if you want Chinese buffet. Or you can drive to Hammond for the Punjabi Dhaba indian buffet. Other than that, you're SIL.

Unfortunately Thai Pepper and Thai kitchen both shuttered the buffets. Definitely a hit for Baton Rouge lunches.

El Magey is still doing it, but I felt was too expensive for what they offer. $100 for three people just too much.

We order off the regular menu at Thai Pepper now they no longer do buffet. They're still just as busy and probably making alot more profit. I don't see the buffet coming back.

Eh. In today's world, these prices are far from unreasonable to me. A Mexican dish off the menu at most places will run you that, and this is a buffet of Mexican dishes.

Also available for kids 8-11 years old @ $10.95

What was it that got 3 people to $100? Margaritas and tip? That's still not horrible for alcohol and a meal for 3 people

I assume Swagat has no plans to go back to buffet either?

I have been really wanting to try this place, but at the distance it is from my house, I would want to try a ton of stuff at once without ending up with Indian leftovers for a week.

We asked them about it when COVID started dying down and some buffets were coming back online and they told us that the buffet would not return.

As someone above commented about Thai Pepper, I think most of these places discovered that they could still make as much, if not more, money by taking away the buffet and just letting people order off the menu. That being the case, why go to the all hassle of bringing back the buffet?

The wife and I will make the drive over the Hammond about once a month for the Punjabi Dhaba buffet, so I don't miss the Indian buffet quite as much, but I hate that there is no Thai buffet left in town. Thai Pepper buffet was a regular Saturday lunch stop for the wife and I for many, many, many years. It is greatly missed.

It was a Sunday and maybe the wife got a marg. Regular drinks were like $4 and tip 10% due to self service. Tax...maybe some add-on fee like I've seen at other places? Dunno, El Magey is pretty solid at $20pp but not worth $33.
