Do you make buying decisions based on this? Why or why not?

No. If it's GMO. Great. If it's non-GMO. Great. I don't search for a GMO/non-GMO stamp when i shop. I'm sane.

If I see the non GMO project butterfly on the label and there is a decent alternative I buy the alternative

There is a real human cost into the anti-GMO fear mongering that they support

Sometimes I prefer the GMO over the non. They have been modifying genes in crops for decades in order to protect from fungus, viruses.....things that can negatively affect the crops and inadvertently me if I eat it.

Most people are not informed or educated on the topic and just go along with the crowd in thinking they are supposed to view GMO as a bad thing.

Hate to say it but vegans are the worst about this

Genetic modification of foods is probably the most important thing humans have ever done

It's literally taking a big shite on progress and technology when people try to make GMOs out to be some sort of boogey man

I don’t care either way, but I do mock the labels frequently.

Since GMO is primarily used to develop crops that can be bathed in glyphosates and other chemicals, I do try to avoid them, especially if the vegetable or fruit is on the dirty dozen list. So my avoidance isn't specifically anti-GMO but anti-chemicals.

Less pesticides and also less dangerous pesticides are used on gmo crops than non gmo crops.

Most gmo crops are sprayed once with herbicides once they come out of the ground and maybe a fungicide or insecticide if needed

Non-gmo crops are sprayed 2-3 times with herbicides then 1 or 2 fungicide applications and at least 1 insecticide application

GMO crops also use less energy and water to grow while yielding better

If you think the trace amounts of glyphosate you get in your food will harm you then you are a dumbass.

Yeap

Look up rotenone. It’s a classic organic pesticide.
