That is known as Loco Moco and when we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon I ate that daily and it was delicious.
Driving around one day we stopped at a church that had kalua pork going and they invited us to eat with them. Absolutely fantastic.
Poi on the other hand is the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten, and that's saying something

Food in Hawaii is amazing. The BBQ is great and unique but rarely done off the islands. The seafood is incredible but hard to replicate. How can you replicate bringing something straight to the table from the water? It's hard to describe, but you can tell how much fresher the seafood is even when it's only a few days difference from a restaurant on the mainland.

We had a local Hawaiian place in Shreveport, but it closed. I wanted to like more than the poke bowls, which were great, but it was just so damned much starch. Mounds of rice and macaroni with fried meats and brown gravy are not my thing.

Service sucked, food and drinks were expensive, the poke bowl had very little fish, the veggies were the (no shite) Walmart steam bag variety. I wanted to like it but it was just bad. It’s like they spent all their money on the decor. But $14 for a drink in Shreveport? Get the frick outta here

Good Loco Moco is amazing, as is really fresh tuna poké. Poi, on the other hand, is a hard pass.

They just showed a fried slice of Spam, between white rice, wrapped in seaweed. It looked nasty and bland (and I like seaweed).
Musubi. I don't normally care for spam but these are pretty good. It's just a cheap snack food you find in convenience stores and cafes. It has a sweet teriyaki taste. It definitely isn't bland.

We enjoyed KuaAina Burger and Romy's Shrimp on the North Shore and dinner at House Without a Key has good food with a great sunset view.

Ironically we never tried Loco Moco in Hawaii, but we saw them make it on the cooking channel when we got back and now we make it a couple of times a month.
