I guess you've never eaten in a truly great restaurant. Should I tell you what it's like?

Maybe I'm just a GRIT, but I've had some of the best meals in my life on my Grandma's porch watching the sunset, or on my Daddy's tailgate, guess it doesn't get any more pretentious than that

Amen. I'm the same.

ETA: But I am supremely comfortable with myself as a person and don't need to visit pretentious places to feel better about myself.

I just hope she chooses to eat at places with the best food whether that be a chain or not.

There is no bigger fallacy in food today than the self-righteous food snobs that would rather eat shite on a stick at a local place than something delicious at a place with many locations and lots of success. I think it boils down to people being stupid. We need to find these people.

Seems like if one is truly comfortable with oneself, they aren't overly concerned with whether or whether or not a place is pretentious.

That would be an OT thread. Not a bad response, though. You must not be dumb.

I have a feeling that you view places with healthy, well prepared food as pretentious. Since you already started a thread asking if someone would rather die then eat at McD everyday, I would also guess that you would likely be happy living in north Alabama.

So you think chain restaurants are better than local places?
