By the third generation, those cats that were fed a cooked diet could no longer reproduce. They suffered from skin problems, skeletal deformities, behavioral problems and organ malfunctions.

Ten years ago this thread would have gone no where. But American society is really getting into pets vis-a-vis children. It's fun to watch .

oh okay. Was your hayday a good 50 years ago too? If not, then you don't matter.

If your beasts knew what they were missing in not getting cheese, they would eat your wife in her sleep. Dogs love them some cheese.

Dogs do indeed love cheese. But these dogs have never had any. The wife loves to coax them them to attack me when I'm sitting on the couch with food.

Her: "Go ahead, the two of you are bigger than him. Take it!" It's like living with Lucille Ball.

Zach: "guys, try this.
Dogs: "gobble, gobble, drool, beg"
Zach: "momma is the one withholding this from you. Just sayin."

I'm tellin' ya, that cheese thing is your ace in the hole.

(Zach, I share everything I eat with my dog so I'm right there with you but I won't argue that it's healthy because sugar cookies and table scraps simply aren't healthy.. not unless you're eating raw veggies and plain rice and uncooked meat)

LL, I was taught the same thing growing up. But did research and found that a mix of cooked people food is what breeders of champion dogs eat. Dog food is too processed and has too many additives. We use it because it's cheap and Vets sell it.
I admit that sugar is not so good but dogs love baked bread, cookies, etc. and that is from smell, not sweet. If you could bake a sugarless biscuit they would go nuts.

Also, my dogs are not over weight. If you give a black lab a lot of crappy dry dog food he will become obese. I control amount.

I also exercise them. We live on a lake in the country. They get a LOT of exercise.

Yeah, I have a dog cookbook and a honey-oat cupcake/cookie is actually really good for them and they love it.

Nope, you are waaaay behind the curve.

I am surprised that you don't realize this trend since you assert that you work for a lot of Vets.

They do play both ends against the middle. If dad doesn't give it up, then go complain to mom.

And I expect a 20 year old to think a freaking dog is as important as a kid...
