Gotta try you some marrow. My kids thought I was crazy for eating it. Now they request it.

My older sister ate it all the time and she would pull the cartilage off and chew it up too! Not me, never! I'd starve first!

I've actually known a few people who have talked about eating bone marrow before; they all seemed to like it. My grandmother used to ask me to shop for certain types of bones just for their marrow, but I can't remember what kind they were.

Here's one that's weirder to me--anyone else know someone who eats bones? I know a guy who actually chews up pork chop bones (he might eat chicken bones too). I'm not talking about just the marrow or gnawing on the bones until all the meat is gone--he really likes eating the bones.

I wouldn't say a lot of places up here have marrow on the menu, but this place came to mind...

LINK

I've had it a couple times there. It's rich and fatty like foie gras. You scoop out a little, put it on some toast with some sort of tangy jelly (onion marmalade in this case). It's really good, but rich. You'd only want it as a small portion.

But none of the fat is saturated fat. Good source of iron and calcium. Love marrow. If you're going to eat meat you should be prepared to ea the "nasty" bits. The animal gave its life to feed you. Don't waste.

I read this as "donate bone marrow"

Imagine my surprise when the body of the post started to read a little weird.

So much flavor. I always boil the marrow out of my soup bones to make my stock.
And yes, I have cracked bones to suck out the marrow

I used to suck the marrow out of chicken bones as a kid, probably because I saw my dad or mom do it.

I have had it served as specials at two different high end restaurants. It was good but not great. I wouldn't order it again
