I love potatoes. Every way possible. If you know what I mean.
Except sweet potatoes. Or "yams" as the aborigines call them.

I eat fries all the time, but ALWAYS dipped in ketchup. Or I can do seasoned fries.

So perhaps DESPISE was a bit strong.
If Jones does not get his THA soon, I am gonna drink them.

No. I like ketchup. And seasoning. Things that mask potato flavor.

Idk. The only people I know who despise potatoes are terrorist.

You're keeping their feet to the fire in this thread Lester.

therefore if you like french fries, you like "potatoes"....within in the context of the thread.

I like mine scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, topped, and spiced.
With whole potatoes, I like to make a seasoned butter with fresh herbs such as chives, basil, and green onion. Roasted garlic does well too.
If I mash, I like to replace the milk with sour cream. I always use unsalted butter.
My wife is of German decent so we have potatoes frequently. Knodels, Spazele, and potato pancakes are all things you might be served here. A hearty gravy would be served atop of all.
A good fish fry needs fries. I cut a few russets in the fry cutter and par-fry at about 300-325f. Then I flash fry them at about 375f to make them crispy. Good stuff.
Home-fries are an awesome side dish. Onions and peppers cooked down with the cut potatoes in some oil, then cooked tender by adding a little water and simmering with the lid on for about 20 minutes.
Yukon Golds are in another category. Rub them in oil, salt, pepper, bake. Perfect every time. Mmmm.

If you bake or boil or mash a potato, I will not eat it. If the flavor is masked by 10lbs of cheese and shite, then yes I will eat it. That doesn't mean I like the potato itself. Hell, I'm sure paper would taste okay covered in a sauce you like too
I'd eat a deep fried turd I love fried food so much, so I don't think eating fries drowned in ketchup qualifies as liking potatoes.

You trusted me on beets. Trust me on potatoes.

I've had potatoes.
When I was a kid, I refused to eat potatoes.. I've hated them since birth. I was the only kid whose parents couldn't drive through McDonalds for fries to shut me up.
One time when I was 1-2 years old, my mom got me a hash brown. I took a bite and said "This tastes like potatoes!" and my mom said "No, it's not a potato.. it's a hash brown!" .. but she tells me to this day I refused to eat it because I knew it was a potato.

Today, I can tolerate potatoes just like I can tolerate pretty much any food. But if you're asking me if I "like" them like the thread says... NO. I do not even like them a little. I only like the items used to mask their flavor.

You would love my mashed potatoes.
