Is this what you're going with? Not that your girlfriend didn't know not to eat it? Or at least to chew her food up? I've never taken the bay leaves out of stuff I've put them in.

Might as well throw a couple oak leaves from out in the yard in the pot in my opinion.

I can't tell the difference with or without them.

I'm neutral on them but still use them out of habit.

I cut up a bunch of the wood from a bay tree that fell over on our lease. I've used that wood to smoke pork butts and it's awesome. You get an herbal/peppery note to it. I highly recommend it.

I think they add flavor. I use the ground powder for safety.

Stop buying bad bay.

Get Morton and Basset. They are actually green, have a scent, and a real taste.
