My most recent contribution to a pot luck bbq was rumaki, which is bacon wrapped water chestnut and chicken liver. You'd be surprised how many wouldn't even try it as it absolutely repulsed them.
Call a brotha up, Degas!

Yup. That's it, but I usually don't even mess with the ginger and soy because the bacon and liver pack enough punch. Also, they're much more flavorful off a grill than from a broiler.
And yes, there are all sorts of variations of Rumaki, including scallop, shrimp, pineapple, etc.

Rumaki is an hors d'oeuvre of mock-Polynesian origin. It was most likely invented by Victor Bergeron, known as Trader Vic. Its ingredients and method of preparation vary, but usually it consists of water chestnuts and pieces of duck or chicken liver wrapped in bacon and marinated in soy sauce and either ginger or brown sugar. Pastrami is often substituted for bacon when rumaki is prepared for kosher diners who avoid eating bacon. The earliest known reference to it is on the 1941 menu of the Don the Beachcomber restaurant.

sweetbreads
Certainly sweetbreads do not fit under the term "Disgustng" at all. The appearance of them when first entered into the kitchen is only a small bit from a huge assed oyster would gain. The prep from the door at the back to the plate takes a bit of work to achieve, but when it hits the plate and it is topped with a good brown sauce the cockles of your gastronomic heart will melt and tears run down uncontrollably across your cheeks. Yes Virginia there is a nirvana of food.

Tripe > Sweetbreads > Liver
I like all three, though.
I tried cow brains once, however, and I didn't really care for them.

The fact that someone listed Popeyes shows how far down hill this board has gotten in terms of the food snobbery
.
I think Popeyes is delicious, but definitely fattening.
IHOP breakfast, Cracker Barrel breakfast, Waffle House, and Bud's Broiler are good drunk food for sure.

yeah, let's definitely use THIS thread as the litmus test to determine the current quality or value of the Food board.

agreed here though, there are some posters that apparently don't understand the concept of "disgusting."
either that or they're easily disgusted.

How'd you get it there? I like to get it in pho.
My favorite preparation is an Italian version in a light tomato sauce. The only place in town I've ever seen do that was at A Mano and it was good there. I had gotten it at Babbo in NYC like that and they were pretty much alike.
Maybe some Italian places here will do it as a special, I don't know.

Super sonic breakfast burritos.

In my full fatty days, anytime I'd cook rice and gravy, I had to have Kraft mac and cheese with it. And on my plate, I'd mix the mac and cheese into the rice and gravy. I got weird looks, but it was soooo good.

Gotcha .. I'll keep an eye out going forward when I'm at a nicer restaurant that probably knows how to treat and execute it.

Yep. They did a great job.
Not sure I've seen it anywhere else in town.
