The wife and I are going to a concert in enemy territory. Looking for a good spot Saturday evening. Can be casual or fairly nice. Open to suggestions

Evangelines
Chucks

Personally, I would drive out to nicks in the sticks but that may not be the best idea for someone unfamiliar with the area

2nd this choice. I went less than a year after it opened the Friday before LSU/Bama. I was quite impressed.

All good ideas in this thread, except for Dreamland.

I concur with Cypress Inn. Accidentally hit downvote button.

It ain't what it used to be, and was never really upscale. It's still decent, but there are better options.

If the concert is at the amphitheater, I can't recommend Avenue Pub enough. Close by, and great food and atmosphere.

DePalma's is a casual Italian place nearby there as well.

Chuck's Fish is in that same area for a nicer place.

I lived there for 10 years - For Alabama, it is upscale.

And Dreamland? Tough stringy meatless ribs with way too much black pepper - make the sides of your mouth burn with too little flavor. And they think the sides limited to white bunny bread makes them special?

I grew up in Tuscaloosa. For a while it was the nicest restaurant in town. That didn't make it upscale. I've worn jeans and a t-shirt in there and didn't feel out of place. Just wanted to give the OP a head's up in case he ended up there. It always was, and still is, a casual place.

Cyprus Inn had a change in ownership and has not been the same since. It was good, it is not now. Side by Side is my recommendation.

Last time I was in there a couple of years ago, it looked really dated. Like they hadn't updated decor since the early 90's.

Nope.

Original archibalds in northport is your best choice for BBQ. It would be a good lunch choice.

Address: 1211 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Northport, AL 35476.

It aint much to look at but they have great BBQ

I am not kidding, the BBQ is awesome. And you can pickup a gallon of sauce for $20.

Of the places mentioned Evangelines is probably the nicest and least crowded.

Depalmas, chucks and avenue are all downtown and serve good foot. 5 is also downtown but menu is limited, to 5 entrees....

I've been there for a few LSU baseball series. I recommend DePalma's.
