Moved here recently but don't know where to go or what to avoid.

What I do know: Rips on Lake is good. Old Rail Brewery is aight so long as expectations arent high. The Box has acceptable takeout lunch. Mandeville Seafood parking lot is always full. From what I've heard, Northlake seafood is good too.

What I don't know: Anything else. Best Chinese, Best Italian, Best Mexican, etc. Other lake restuarants- good? Have yet to go to Rusty Pelican. Always packed. Food ok?

I get what you’re saying about rips. But I love the place and the old school vibe. I’ve had an occasional bad experience, but the vast majority of the time I leave very happy. But I’m experienced enough with the place to know how to make it pleasant.

The one time I went was really good with good service and sitting outside with nice weather was great. But I've only been the one time.

Chuy on 190 is damn good Mexican food.

Rusy Pelican is always quality. Every single time.

Mandina's is also very good. Everything I have ever eaten there is divine.

Liz' Where Yat is a solid staple for breakfast and a weekend brunch.

Rips is not good, IMO. Gallagher's 527 is top notch cuisine.

For Italian, if you have not driven 10 miles down 190 to Lacombe to eat Sal-N-Judy's, you are missing out. This is the best restaurant in the state, IMO.

Mandeville Seafood, YES.

Sticks BBQ is solid also. They are located on Hwy 59 just up from Florida/ 190.

Coffee Rani is full of hot mothers during lunch hours of the weekdays.

I am headed to Fazzio's for lunch and will update this list as the afternoon progresses. Fazzio's is also really good Italian, but not nearly as good as SNJ.

Solid list.

Would add Old Rail, too.

Was wondering about Hambone. Heard others recommend it.

My FIL wrecked his bike trying to avoid their sandwich board on the sidewalk. Had to get stitches in his finger. They owe me a good meal!

I don’t get the love for Aki. I’ve had sushi there 3 times and couldn’t finish our sushi twice because the tuna tasted old.

I’ve always preferred Northshore Empress over Trey Yuen.

Haven’t been to Aki, but I always enjoy Kazoku.

Journey East has good Ramen.

Agreed, and Pat’s Rest Awhile on the lake has a great atmosphere and the food’s been great the handful of times we’ve been if you want a lakefront option that’s not Rips.

I have lived here 11 years now and worked in Mandeville 10 of those years. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I have never eaten at Cafe Lynn. I have always heard great things about it, however.
