Digiulio's. Good chance that your waitress is more attractive than your date. Not an indictment against your date they just have really good looking waitresses there.

The Little Village was awful the last 2 times I went.

That had better be some world class bread.

They charge for the plain table bread too, not just their signature cheesy greasy.
If you're gonna get gouged by a Wayne Stabiler joint, go to Le Creole, at least Chef Ryan Andre's cooking justifies it..City Cafe/Miranda and LV are largely pedestrian.
Lil Village has sucky salads, is very hit-and-miss dish to dish, though they do good steaks, fried eggplant, and their desserts are solid and huge.

Diguilo's and its not even close.
Perfect atmosphere for a date, laid back, good bar, good food, good service, slow paced meal. If things go well, walk across the street for a night cap.

Which is that? I have never heard or seen bread on their menu or been asked about ording bread other than their signature bread.

Is there an local Italian place in BR that doesnt charge for bread?
Some will serve with an entree but there are not many that will put bread out on the table outside of the chains.
I prefer LV's bread over Ginos but you never see Ginos catch the shite that LV does for charging for its bread.

Just watch out for ordering a special.. The prices are much higher than their menu items.
I generally stick with their Ribeye. My wife likes their Seafood Cannelloni. Lasagna is pretty good. I also wouldnt go there and not pay for their bread even though everyone gives them grief over charging for it.

Ginos doesn't charge for house bread
Posted on 5/13/11 at 1:55 am to LSUAfro
Gino's house bread is free as is Carraba's,etc..
LV charges just a hair short of their famous cheesy greasy for plain bread by request. $4 to $6..I forget the exact amount..f@cking comical!
Give or take, the same amount for their delicious bread pudding dessert(which uses the same old bread), yet took time and effort to make, utilizing more bread than a single loaf, and comes with a sauce. Go figure!

I went to little village twice downtown, and didn't have good experiences either time. I ordered the dry age ribeye and they brought me the wrong steak, which was over cooked. They messed up my date's side order as well. My girlfriend loves their spaghetti but everything I have has been sub par quality for the prices they have.

I had a gift certificate so my husband and I wanted to give them another chance. It was our last time. We will not be back. The bread tasted like it had been sitting in the oil way too long and soaked up way too much. My eggplant parm was served barely warm almost cold. My husbands lasagna was a child size portion. The wine prices are ridiculous. I have paid $15 a glass before and been quite happy to but that was because I had a choice not to. The bread pudding was hard. Add all of these items up and it was just not a good experience and I am not usually picky about restaurants. But I will not stand for food I am paying for to be served cold!

I really had no idea LV even offered a "house bread" Nor Ginos for that matter. I have never been to Ginos and had bread put on my table without asking.

as is Carraba's,etc
As for Pinettas.. Id rather pay for my bread than fight off the friendly neighbors crawling off the wall.

We just went to the little village downtown and were not impressed. The food was average but the prices were absurd. Prices definitely don't justify the quality of food.
eta: Also had to send back cold food to be reheated.
